2006.11.27 The first CIB/W114 meeting, "International Workshop on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings," was held in Guangzhou, China on 27 November 2006.
The first CIB/W114 meeting, "International Workshop on Response Control and Seismic Isolation of Buildings," was held in Guangzhou, China on 27 November 2006. More than forty scholars from China and Japan are invited to exchange information on the latest developments of isolating system. Participants of the workshop agreed to conclude an action plan to conduct collaborative research and development activities on the research of response control and seismic isolation techniques for buildings and structures.
2006.11.1 Termination of CIB/TG44 and Establishment of New CIB Working Commission CIB/W114 entitled "Earthquake Engineering and Buildings"
Task Group of CIB, CIB/TG44 successfully terminated with the publication of the book entitled, "Response control and seismic isolation of buildings" introduced above. This book summarized state of the art of worldwide practice of response control and seismic isolation of buildings in Japan, China, Italy, Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, and United States of America.
As shown in this book, response control technique has been widely used for buildings around the world. On the other hand, this book revealed that each region has its own design concept and practices of response control technique. This fact makes difficult for researchers and engineers to understand and compare the performance of response control buildings in different regions.
Succeeding to TG44 establishment of new Working Commission, entitled "Earthquake Engineering and Buildings" had been proposed to CIB by Dr. Saito, Chief researcher, International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, Building Research Institute, JAPAN and last Program Committee held in Atlanta, U.S.A approved the establishment of the Working Commission as W114.
The new working commission, W114; Earthquake Engineering and Buildings will encompass more aspect on earthquake engineering and also put focus on buildings with response control devices for the first three year activities.
2006.9.8 CIB/TG44 Book, "RESPONSE CONTROL AND SEISMIC ISOLATION OF BUILDINGS" has been released.
Editing works of CIB/TG44 book, "RESPONSE CONTROL AND SEISMIC ISOLATION OF BUILDINGS" took quite a long time more than expected. However, finally our book has been released since September 8, 2006 from Taylor & Francis. The book will retail for L90. It is hard cover with CIB's Green Color and total page of 397.
